News & Events

View all the news and events from the Cold Lake Palliative Care Society. We often hold fundraiser events in the Cold Lake community to inform the public of palliative care. It is important that people are aware of the benefits of palliative care and other information about preparing for the passing a loved one. It is our goal that we provide as much information as we can and be able to answer any questions or concerns.

Stay updated about recent projects that are in our news. Our events will be included as well.

Roadshow: Scared to Death of Death

On Monday May 11th, 2020 we are hosting the Alberta Hospice Palliative Care Association’s annual Roadshow. We live in a death-denying culture. While most people grudgingly admit that they are aware of their own mortlity, death remains something rarely discussed. With guest presentors, Blair Collins, grief counsellor and life coach, and Darrin Parkin, spiritual care clinician we will examine more closely factors that influence our cultural denial of death and how that affects medicine, living, palliative care, and death.

Interested in networking with other locals who share a passion for palliative care and learn more? Head over to the AHPCA website to register for the Roadshow.

“Tree of Hope” Event

Our annual fundraising Event the “Tree of Hope” is held every December. It offers the opportunity to commemorate the memory of a loved one who has passed away. Each year the tree is set up in the entrance of the Cold Lake healthcare centre, people can buy a ribbon by donation and place it on the tree.
